Abstract

We live in an ever-changing data-dependent world. Data and information are woven into society, our organizations, and our personal lives. Whether you are looking at data driven analytics, implementing AI or machine learning, adopting new Cloud and IOT technologies, or working on legacy systems, the quality of the data used will impact results – for good or ill. Two questions must be answered “yes” for data to be used effectively:

  • Is the data of high quality? That is, is it an accurate representation of what happened in the real world, is it available when needed, is it secure from unauthorized access and manipulation, etc.?

  • Do we trust the data? That is, do we have confidence in the data and information, and do we believe it is of high quality?

You will get an overview of the recently-released second edition of Executing Data Quality Projects: Ten Steps to Quality Data and Trusted Information™. (The first edition in 2008 is often described as a “classic” or noted as one of the “top ten” data management books in social media conversations.)  You will see how this approach to data quality can be used in numerous situations where data is involved. Come with the challenges you face. Join the discussion to discover how you can get started, or enhance your current work, ensuring the quality of data and information - some of your organization’s most important assets.
