Metadata Management is one of the most overlooked data management disciplines. Its complexity and its often-underestimated benefits are typically the culprits.

However, Metadata Management is a foundational discipline that can further mature other data management initiatives, especially Data Quality Management, Data Governance, and Data Stewardship.

This presentation details the many aspects of Metadata Management as well as its positive impact when applied in coordination with other data management disciplines.

Dalton is a data management consultant and book author on Master Data Management. Dalton has over 26 years experience in the areas of software development, project management, and data management. In the last 12 years, Dalton has specialized in multiple disciplines related to data management, including Master Data Management, Entity Resolution, Data Governance and Stewardship, Data Integration and Synchronization, Data Quality, Metadata Management, Reference Data Management, Data Security, and Data Architecture. Dalton has successfully led many single and multi-domain MDM implementations as an independent consultant, as a Senior Solutions Consultant at DataFlux/SAS, and as a Senior PM at Sun Microsystems/Oracle.
