Block Chain Abstract

"Blockchain" is a data storage method that creates an immutable, shared record of data.  While Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are very interesting use cases, Blockchain's general function will be as a source of truth between parties.  This presentation will discuss its conceptual underlying data structures, characteristics and principles, and key use cases.  Blockchain is simple in concept, powerful in execution, but limited in uses.

Biography

Todd Sicard is a Principle Enterprise Architect at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota.  He has over two decades of experience with both transactional & analytic data and has previously presented at several DAMA MN & Enterprise Data World events.  He's taken a keen interest in blockchain and thinks this concept will continue to mature into a useful storage mechanism.  He spends too much of his free time coding his own blockchain from "hello world" up.
